They're easy to use, and our rules require that you utilize comment spoiler tags in any thread where the OP may not have beaten the games, or in instances where the thread or OP specifically asks for the thread to be clear of spoilers. The method is quite simple: !This is how you write it!

We've been able to access audio from both games for quite a while, actually. There's two kinds of audio, dialogue and combat.

Dialogue are lines spoken in, well, dialogue scenes. Combat dialogue are the little quips you hear in combat like Carth's 'Down you go!' , or a creature's death sounds. The combat dialogue and sounds (including sound effects) are easily extracted through. All you have to do is extract the sounds.bif file from each game. You can click on the sounds.bif and extract the entire thing, which has everything.

Kotor 1's lines are in the folder 'Streamwaves' and Kotor 2's are in the folder 'StreamVoice'. They are organized by module. You will notice they are.wav files, but they cannot be played by anything. They are all compressed. The only tool that I'm aware of that can decompress them is Miles Sound Tool.

This tool is hard to find now, since Miles removed the links to it a few years ago. However, I still have a copy of the installer. You can find itOnce the Miles Sound Tool is installed you can open up the Miles Sound Studio, and navigate to whatever file from the game you want to play. However, you cannot decompress them quite yet for your own use.Copy the file(s) you want to convert to another location. DO NOT modify the files in your game folder!

You must first change the file from ending with '.wav' to '.mp3'. Windows will give you a warning that changing the file extension may damage the file, but it's okay. Proceed anyways.

So your file will change from 'BA02CS001.wav' to 'BA02CS001.mp3' for example. You may need to enable file extensions in Windows Explorer Settings. Click on the.mp3 file in Miles Sound Tools and press 'Decompress'. It'll ask where to save the new file.
